A truck driver was killed when his vehicle lost control and overturned into a roadside ditch in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Jamal Molya, 32, son of the late Shahadat Hossain of Kulia village under Mollahat Police Station in Bagerhat district.
The accident occurred in the Fukra Bazar area on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway in the upazila around 4:00 am.
Md Ruman Molya, sub-inspector of Bhatiapara Highway Police Station, said the truck was heading towards Khulna from Dhaka, carrying empty fish containers.
When the truck reached the Phukra Bazar area, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and overturn into a ditch, said the highway police.
Jamal Molya died on the spot.
Following legal procedures, the body was handed over to the family, he added.
