‘Drug trader’ dies in Kushtia ‘gunfight’

A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight between two groups of drug traders at Chadgram under Bheramara upazila in Kushtia in the early hours of Monday.

The deceased was identified as Ratan Ali.

Khandaker Shamim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Bheramara Police Station, was quoted by UNB as saying that they were informed about a gunfight between two groups of drug traders and then a team of them conducted a drive near 4 No. bridge area at around 3:00 am.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the drug traders fled away from the scene.

Later, police recovered the bullet-hit body from the spot and sent it to Kushtia General Hospital.
