Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will deliver vitamin-A capsules to 0.35 million children during a nationwide fortnightly campaign from October 04 to 17 at 1,427 centres.

As many as 2,974 volunteers and 112 supervisors will supervise the centres that will remain open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The number of children aged six months to 11 months is 52,176. They will get blue capsules.

The other group of children numbering 0.304 million aged from 12 months to 59 months will get red capsules.

These were revealed during a central dissemination, planning and journalist orientation programme organised by DSCC at Mayor Hanif Auditorium in the city on Thursday.

DSCC Mayor Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh said that the nutrition situation of children is not satisfactory. This happens not only because of shortage of food intake, rather because of lack of awareness. That is why nationwide vitamin 'A' plus campaign is important.

He also said that everyone involved with the campaign in the time of Covid-19 should be more careful about following health guidelines to make the campaign successful.

It will be better not to deliver the capsules by the volunteers or health workers directly, rather the parents and guardians of the incoming children can be encouraged and convinced about health rules and feed the children, the mayor mentioned.
