DU directs hall authorities to strengthen security on campus

The Dhaka University authorities have directed hall authorities to strengthen security on the campus to avoid untoward situations centring on the ongoing quota movement.

The directive was given at an emergency meeting of the provost standing committee held at the Vice Chancellor's residence on Monday afternoon, Professor Abdul Bashir, provost of Bijoy Ekattor Hall told UNB.

DU VC Prof ASM Maksud Kamal chaired the meeting attended by the provosts of all residential halls of the university, he added.

“All teachers were ordered to stay at the halls from 9 pm to ensure the security of the students. In addition, students are urged to remain alert so that no outsiders can enter and stay in the halls.”

“If anyone tries to create chaos or unrest on the campus, authorities will take action against them,” he added

The meeting discussed the overall situation of the campus and took the decision in view of that, Professor Bashir said.
