The Department of Urdu at Dhaka University, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT), is set to organise the Fourth International Conference on "The Role of Poets Iqbal and Nazrul Islam in National Awakening" on November 9-10 on the university campus.
Dr Md. Golam Rabbani, convener of the Conference Implementation Committee, Shared the details at a press briefing held at the office of the Dhaka University Journalists' Association (DUJA) on Friday (November 7).
He said that professors and researchers from 22 countries including Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, England, the United States, Qatar, Egypt, Canada, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iran, Turkey, Nepal, Malaysia, Mauritius, Japan, and others will take part in the event and present their research papers.
Prominent participants include Dr. Fatema Hasan and Dr. Humaira Ishfaq from Pakistan; Sarwar Ghazali from Germany; Prof. Kazi Ahmad Abdur Rahman from Egypt; Amir Mehdi from England; Gausia Sultana Nuri from the USA; Prof. Khaja Muhammad Ikramuddin, Prof. Aslam Jamshedpuri, and poet Afzal Mungluri from India; poet Sakib Haruni from Nepal; Wali Alam
Shaheen from Canada; Faisal Naway Chowdhury from Norway; Sadaf Mirza from Denmark; Hena Khurasani Rizvi from Sweden; Arshad Farooq Hashmi from Finland; Ali Bayat from Iran; Mokhaya Abdur Rahman from Uzbekistan; Lyudmila from Russia; and Mahmudul Hasan from Malaysia, among others.
A total of 127 research papers will be presented across 18 sessions during the two-day conference. In the evening of November 9, renowned poets from home and abroad will participate in a lively Mushaira and Ghazal Night.
The inaugural session will be presided over by Mr. Md. Golam Maula, chairman of the Department of Urdu. Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, vice-chancellor of Dhaka University, will attend as the chief guest, while Prof. Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, dean of the Faculty of Arts, will be present as special guest.
Dr. Md. Abdul Aziz, director general of BIIT, and Mahmudur Rahman, editor of The Daily Amar Desh, will attend as distinguished guests.
The two-day event will take place across four venues, including the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban at Dhaka University.
