Ahead of the Victory Day, the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) is hosting a special theatre festival on December 11-13.
Titled "From Victory to Victory, Theatre Festival 2025," the event will be held at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
DUCSU Literary and Cultural Affairs Secretary Musaddiq Ali Ibne Mohammad briefed the arrangements at a press conference held in the DUCSU conference room on Wednesday.
He said that the festival will be organised jointly by DUCSU, Dhaka Metropolitan Natya Sangshad, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, and the Literary and Cultural Centre.
He added that several productions based on the Liberation War will be staged during the festival. A special play will also be performed that blends the spirit of the 1971 Liberation War with the inspiration drawn from the July 2024 mass uprising, highlighting both the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and the spirit of recent popular movements for the new generation.
Alongside Dhaka University's own theatre groups, several renowned troupes from outside the university will also take part. Each day, three plays will be staged starting at 3:30 PM, while four plays will be performed on Friday.
