On the final day for collecting nomination forms for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election, all major student organisations submitted full panels, but the BNP’s student wing, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, kept its options open with leaders applying individually.
On Monday, two of them -- Dhaka University unit Joint General Secretary BM Kausar and Abidul Islam Khan -- collected forms to contest independently for vice president.
Chhatra Dal central committee Joint General Secretary Mominul Islam Jisan also collected a form for the VP post, while Jasimuddin Hall unit Convener Tanvir Bari Hamim took a form for general secretary.
After picking up forms from the chief returning officer’s office on Monday, Abidul said their panel was not yet finalised.
“Our leader Tarique Rahman instructed us to collect forms, and we did. He will decide which positions we contest,” he said.
DU unit Information and Research Secretary Zarif Rahman also collected a form, though his intended post was not disclosed.
