Due electricity bill totals Tk 14.35b with public, private organisations

The government has due electricity bill of Tk 14.35 billion with different public, semi-government and private organisations.

“Taka 6.68 billion remain dues with different public organizations and Taka 7.67 billion with different semi-government and private organizations,” said State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid while responding to a query made by treasury bench lawmaker M Nazrul Islam Babu of Narayanganj-2 in the House on Thursday, reports BSS.

The defaulted public organisations are Agriculture Ministry, Commerce Ministry, Communication Ministry, Cultural Affairs Ministry, Defence Ministry, Education Ministry, Local Government Division, Forest and Environment Ministry, Election Commission, Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment, Finance Division, Finance (IRD), Fisheries Ministry, Food and Disaster Management Ministry, Food and Disaster Management Ministry (Non Bengali Camps), Health and Family Planning, Home Ministry, Housing and Public Works Ministry, Information Ministry, Labour and Employment, Land Ministry, Law, Justice and

Parliamentary Affairs, Local Government and Cooperative Ministry, Liberation War Affairs Ministry, Primary and Mass Education Ministry, Post and Telecommunication Division, Planning Commission, Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry, Religious Affairs Ministry, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, Social Welfare Ministry, Youth and Sports Ministry, Women and Child Affairs Ministry, Prime Minister’s Office, (PMO), Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry, Jute and Textile Ministry, Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC), Science , Information and Technology Ministry, Bangladesh Supreme Court, Ministry of Industries, Power Division, Energy Division and Water Resource Ministry.

The highest electricity bill of Taka 953.3 million remain pending with Housing and Public Works Ministry which is followed by Taka 645.3 million with Home Affairs Ministry, Taka 573.27 million with Religious Affairs Ministry, Taka 520.29 million with Food and Disaster Management Ministry (Non Bengali Camps) and Taka 469.62 million with Health and Family Planning Ministry.
