An earthquake was felt in parts of Bangladesh, including Dhaka and Rangamati, on Sunday afternoon.
Farzana Sultana, assistant meteorologist of Bangladesh Meteorological Department, told UNB that the earthquake jolted Dhaka, Rangamati, Cumilla, Cox’s Bazar and Khagrachhari districts around 2:44 pm. The tremor lasted for a few seconds.
The epicentre of the 5.4 magnitude tremor was at Mawlaik in the western region of Myanmar.
The distance of the epicentre was 441 km southeast of the BMD Seismic Centre in Agargaon, Dhaka, according to BMD.
There was no immediate report of casualties or damage.
