

A 10-month-old infant has been killed after a wall collapsed in a building in Narayanganj’s Rupganj during Friday’s earthquake.
Tariqul Islam, chief of Rupganj Police Station, said two other people, including the child’s mother, have been injured in the incident in the Golakandail area.
The victim was identified as Fatema, the daughter of local residents Abdul Haque and Kulsum Begum. Abdul runs a business in Dhaka’s Shyambazar area.
Kulsum and her neighbour Jasmine were injured in the incident, bdnews24.com reports.

Rubayat Kabir, of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department’s Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre said a quake registering at magnitude 5.7 on the Richter scale hit Bangladesh around 10:38 am.
The epicentre of the quake was 13km from Dhaka and at a depth of 10km.
OC Tariqul said, “A 10-month-old child died when the wall of a building collapsed during the earthquake.”
Imtiaz Bhuiyan, a resident of the Golakandail area, said: “I left the house when I became aware of the earthquake. Then I heard from locals that a child had died when the wall of a building collapsed onto them. The child died on the spot.”
