The Election Commission (EC) has directed the withdrawal of Habiganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Debi Chanda, according to a local media report.
The EC communicated this direction to the public administration ministry in a letter on Monday.
According to EC sources, the decision to withdraw the Habiganj DC is aimed at ensuring a free and fair conduct of the 12th national elections.
The letter also requested the appointment of a suitable replacement for DC Debi Chanda, they added.
Apart from this, the EC, in a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs, ordered the withdrawal of Officers-in-Charge of Maltab (North) Police Station in Chandpur and Dasar Police Station in Madaripur along with Inspector Rajeev Chakraborty of Kaliganj Police Station in Gazipur.
