The Election Commission has published a draft of the supplementary voter list across the country ahead of the 13th general election.
The list was published on Sunday, said Shariful Alam, the commission's public relations director, reports bdnews24.com.
He said, "The list of each constituency has been published in the offices of the Upazila and Thana election officers across the country. Any mistake in the list can be corrected."
People have 12 days to correct any mistakes in the list, Shariful said.
He said that since the supplementary voter list has been published, applications can be submitted until Aug 21 for inclusion of eligible persons, deletion of names of deceased people or those ineligible for inclusion, transfer of voters, and removal of any corrections or errors. The concerned Upazila or Thana election officer and registration officer will settle all these applications by Aug 24. Then, the final list will be published on Aug 31 following other formalities.
This time, more than 4.5 million new voters are being added to the list. The names of 2.1 million deceased voters have been removed from the list. According to the draft calculation, the total number of voters in the country is now more than 126 million.
Those who will turn 18 by Oct 31 can be added to the voter list for the upcoming 13th general election.
