EC suspends voting at Kishoreganj's Katiadi upazila

The Election Commission has suspended voting at the Katiadi upazila following allegations of huge irregularities during the third phase of upazila elections.

Additional superintendent of police (ASP) Shafiqul Islam and Katiadi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamsuddin were also withdrawn, said District Election Officer Mohammad Tajul Islam.

The voting at five polling stations was first suspended and then at the rest 84 over overnight ballot stuffing, he said.

A total of 117 Upazila Parishads have gone to the polls this Sunday morning in the third phase of the local body polls.
