Eid-ul-Azha congregations held peacefully in Dhaka under tight security

All Eid-ul-Azha congregations were organised peacefully in Dhaka city on Saturday amid highest level of security provided by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

The Eid prayers took place on Saturday from 7:00 am to 11:00 am across various locations in the capital. Thousands of worshippers joined the congregations with the main prayer held at the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram.

Following the prayers, special munajat (supplications) were offered seeking the welfare of the country, the well-being of the Muslim Ummah, continued national progress, prosperity, and peace for the people of Bangladesh. Devotees also exchanged Eid greetings among themselves.

DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali said that in order to ensure smooth and safe Eid congregations, comprehensive and foolproof security measures were taken, including increased police presence, intelligence surveillance, and additional check-posts across the city, according to a UNB report.

He further stated that no Eid congregation in Dhaka was held outside the security coverage of DMP.
