Ensure bank employees’ smooth movement during holidays: BB

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to take necessary steps for ensuring smooth travel of bank employees during the ongoing general holidays in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

Central Bank Governor Fazle Kabir made the request through a letter sent to the senior secretary of the home ministry on Saturday in this regard, reports BSS.

Fazle Kabir sought steps to adopt required measures to facilitate bank employees’ movement to and from their respective work places without any hindrance.

According to bdnews24.com, the government has extended the general holidays by three more days to April 14 in an attempt to contain the spread of the coronavirus that infected 88 people and killed nine in the country so far.

The closure of all offices until April 11 has been extended to April 14, Public Administration Secretary Shaikh Yusuf Harun said on Sunday.

Earlier, the central bank asked the banks to continue their banking services in limited scale during the general holidays.
