Envoy Mushfiqul drives product promotion in Mexico

Bangladesh Ambassador to Mexico Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey has emphasised the priority of opening a Mexican Embassy in Dhaka and the promotion of Bangladeshi products in the Mexican market.

“Although separated by distance, Bangladesh and Mexico share common values— friendship, solidarity, and cultural richness—that bring our two peoples closer in spirit," he said as the Embassy of Bangladesh in Mexico City warmly welcomed a high-level delegation from the National Defence College (NDC), Bangladesh, on Tuesday.

The visit underscored the strong ties between Bangladesh and Mexico and reaffirmed the role of strategic and defence education in promoting international cooperation.

"I am confident that this visit will deepen our mutual understanding and strengthen our long-standing partnership,” said the Ambassador.

Mushfiqul received the delegation and briefed them on the Embassy’s ongoing diplomatic, economic, and cultural engagements, said the Embassy in a media release on Wednesday.

The programme featured a presentation on “Bangladesh–Mexico Bilateral Relations: A Partnership for Mutual Growth,” highlighting progress in trade, investment, agriculture, disaster management, defense and multilateral platforms.

Bangladesh’s exports to Mexico reached USD 716 million in mid -2025, positioning Mexico as one of Bangladesh’s leading trade partners in Latin America.

The delegation was led by Rear Admiral A K M Jakir Hossain and Air Vice Marshal M Mustafizur Rahman.

On behalf of the NDC, Rear Admiral A K M Jakir Hossain presented a souvenir to the Ambassador.

The NDC delegation included senior officials from the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force, senior members of the Bangladesh Civil Service, as well as high-ranking military officials from India, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

The program concluded with an interactive exchange of views between the delegation and Embassy officials, followed by a reception featuring traditional Bangladeshi cuisine.

The Embassy expressed confidence that the visit of the NDC delegation would further strengthen the bonds of friendship and expand avenues of cooperation between Bangladesh and Mexico.

The international course members included: Cdre Pramod George Thomas (India), Air Cdre Rajesh Varma, VM F(P) (India), Col Hashan Monahy M Alnatify (Jordan), Brig Gen Meshal M E M A Alsaleh (Kuwait), Col Jerry Kantiok Maigari (Nigeria).

Staff officers Col Muhammad Nurul Amin, Maj M K Habib and Inf. Lieutenant Colonel Sebastian Barriguete, representative of the Mexican Defence Ministry, were also present at the event.
