A Dhaka court on Tuesday put former IGP Abdullah-Al-Mamun on a 43-day remand in eight separate murder cases filed in connection with the deaths during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Police produced him before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Dhaka on Tuesday.
The investigating officer applied for his remand to ensure a thorough investigation of the cases.
Meanwhile, his lawyer filed a bail petition seeking cancellation of the remand.
After hearing both sides, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza rejected his bail plea and granted the remand.
