

Former industries minister Kamal Ahmed Majumdar (75) was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday after falling ill at Keraniganj Central Jail.
He was brought to DMCH’s emergency department around 7:30 pm and admitted to Ward 220 of the Surgery Department for treatment, UNB reports.
Tofayel Ahmed, the prison guard accompanying him, said, “He suddenly became ill at Keraniganj Central Jail in the evening, so we brought him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for admission. He is currently under treatment in Ward 220.”
He added that Majumdar was admitted due to gangrene in his left toe.
Inspector Md. Faruk, in charge of the hospital police camp, confirmed that the former minister had been admitted from the central jail and that his treatment had already started.
