A court has once again ordered a three-day remand for former Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain in a case related to an attack on the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. His brother, Sarfaraz Hossain Mridul, has also been placed on a three-day remand in the same case.

Additionally, the court has granted a two-day remand for the former minister’s brother-in-law, Abdus Samad Babul Biswas, who is also the vice-president of the district Awami League.

The order was issued on Monday (February 3) by Senior Judicial Magistrate Begum Sharmin Nahar of Meherpur.

The investigating officer of the case, Inspector (Investigation) Selim Jahangir of Sadar Police Station, had sought a five-day remand for all three accused in connection with the attack on the students during the July uprising.

Meanwhile, during the remand hearing, activists from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and BNP staged a protest on the court premises. They highlighted various alleged misdeeds of the accused and demanded exemplary punishment.
