The victim’s family has filed an unnatural death case over the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a falling bearing pad from a metro rail pillar in Dhaka’s Farmgate.
Tejgaon Police Station chief Mobarak Hossain said the case was initiated on Sunday night following the daytime accident.
The victim’s wife, Irin Akter Pia, lodged the case over the death of her husband, 35-year-old Abul Kalam Azad.
Around 12:30pm on Sunday, Azad was walking along the footpath near the west end of the metro rail station in Farmgate when a bearing pad detached from pillar No. 433 and struck his head, killing him on the spot.
Referring to the case, Mobarak said the next course of action would be determined once the post-mortem report is received.
He added that if the victim’s family has any further complaints over the incident, they are welcome to do so, and police will investigate and take necessary action accordingly.
