Locals near Dinajpur’s Hili border have found a drone, which police believe is from India, in a paddy field.
A farmer found the drone in an abandoned state while working on a crop field near the Ghasuria border on Wednesday afternoon, said Hakimpur police Inspector Jahangir Alam.
At night, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police recovered the drone from the farmer and took it to the police station.
Jahangir said that local farmer Prafulla, identified by a single name, first saw the drone while working. He then took it home and later called police after the matter came to light.
After getting the call, police recovered it at 10 pm and took it to the police station, he said.
“Initially, it is believed that the drone, which had GPS, somehow lost control while flying over the Indian border and landed in Bangladeshi territory.”
An investigation into the matter is under way and the drone is currently being kept at the Hakimpur Police Station, said the police official.
