Fazlee Shamim Ehsan elected President, Tahmid Ahmed re-elected Vice-President of BEF for 2025–27

Fazlee Shamim Ehsan, a prominent figure in Bangladesh’s apparel sector, has been elected President of the Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF) for the 2025–2027 term. Tahmid Ahmed, Director of Bengal Glass Works Ltd., has been re-elected as Vice-President.
Mr. Ehsan, a business graduate and Managing Director of LEED Platinum-certified Fatullah Apparels Ltd., brings a strong track record of sustainable manufacturing and ethical business leadership. He currently serves as the Executive President of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and is the founder of its Responsible Business Hub, promoting fair pricing and worker welfare initiatives.
A longstanding contributor to policy advocacy, Mr. Ehsan has served three terms as a member of BEF’s Executive Committee. He also sits on the government-formed Bangladesh Labor Law Reform Commission and contributes to key committees revising labor laws and regulations, underscoring his commitment to equitable industrial relations.
Internationally, he serves as a Board Member of the International Apparel Federation (IAF) and chairs the STAR Network, an alliance of garment producer associations across Asia representing over 35,000 manufacturers.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Ehsan is active in social and cultural circles and is a member of several elite clubs including the Kurmitola Golf Club, Dhaka Boat Club, and Narayanganj Club Ltd.
Re-elected as Vice-President, Mr. Tahmid Ahmed has nearly five decades of experience in the glass manufacturing industry. An alumnus of Dhaka College and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, Mr. Ahmed brings deep institutional knowledge to the BEF. He has served as a committee member of the Federation for several years and remains a respected voice in industrial policy and business leadership.
The new leadership at BEF is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing responsible business practices, social dialogue, and policy reforms amid a shifting global trade and labor landscape.
