Ferry service on Daulatdia-Paturia route resumes after seven-hour fog disruption

Ferry operations along the Daulatdia-Paturia route have resumed after a seven-and-a-half hour disruption caused by thick fog on the Padma River, reports bdnews24.com.

Vessels began traversing the waterway after the fog cleared around 10:30 am on Sunday, according to Shah Md Khaled Newaz, deputy director of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation in the Aricha region.

Ferry crossings were halted at 3 am on Sunday to prevent accidents after three vessels were stranded in the middle of the river due to poor visibility, he said. The vessels returned to the terminals after ferry operations resumed.

The halt in ferry operations left scores of vehicles stranded on both sides of the river, as transporters and passengers grappled with the winter cold.
