Police have recovered the body of a film director from Dilu Road in Dhaka’s Moghbazar.

The body of 55-year-old MA Awal was retrieved around 12:30am on Wednesday and sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.

Awal’s colleagues had gone to the house around midnight and called police after they did not get a response, said Sub Inspector Md Enamul Haque of Hatirjheel Police Station, which has jurisdiction over the area.

“We went to the scene, broke open the door, and found him dead, face-down on the bed.”

An initial examination was conducted at the scene before the body was sent to the morgue for a post-mortem examination.

Speaking with those close to him, police found that the unmarried Awal had been ill for a long time, SI Enamul said. Law enforcers believe that he died from his illness.

The cause of death will be known once the autopsy is conducted, Enamul added.

Awal hailed from Narayanganj’s Fatullah but rented an apartment on the fourth floor of a building on Dilu Road.

He was the director of several films, including ‘Rajpathe Badshah’.
