Fire at Banasree residential building extinguished

The fire that broke out in a residential building in Dhaka's Banasree has been extinguished by Fire Service personnel in about 45 minutes.

Two units from Khilgaon Fire Station were deployed after receiving reports of the fire at 8:3 5pm on Friday.

"We received reports of a fire at House No. 16 on Road No. 4, Block C," said Md Shahjahan, duty officer at the Control Room.

Anowarul Islam Dolon, an official of the Fire Service Media Cell, confirmed at 9:20pm that the fire had been fully extinguished, reports bdnews24.com.

“The fire was not severe and was brought under control by two units. Thankfully, there were no casualties. Several individuals trapped inside were safely rescued,” he said.

Dolon also said the fire originated on the second floor of a six-storey building.

“Our units reached the scene at 9:04pm and began work, though traffic congestion delayed their arrival,” he added.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined.
