A fire broke out at a kitchen market in Dhaka's Khilgaon, burning down over 50 shops, in the early hours of Thursday.
A total of 16 firefighting units managed to douse the fire at 5:15 after two hours of frantic efforts, said Farhadul Alam, an on-duty officer at the fire service control room.
A fireman named Abu Musa was injured while trying to douse the fire, he said.
The officer, however, could not confirm the cause of the fire or its extent of losses immediately, local media reports say.
Prior to the kitchen market fire, The Financial Express office at the Tropicana Tower in the city's Purana Patan caught fire on Wednesday night.
A number of fire incidents took place in Dhaka city alone in a week, with the last taking place on Thursday last, creating panic among people in the city.
A total of 26 people were killed and 71 injured in last Thursday's fire at the FR Tower in the city's Banani.
