A fire broke out in a garment and pharmaceutical factory in the capital's Mirpur area on Tuesday.
Spokesman of Fire Service and Civil Defenec (FSCD) Talha-bin Jasim said that the fire originated in Cosmic Pharma and Sardar Garments Factory at Sialbari, Rupnagar in Mirpur around 11:40 am.
He said that the two buildings are located side by side in front of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) in the Rupnagar area.
He said that seven firefighter units rushed to the spot, and they are working to douse the blaze while one other unit is on the way when the report was filed around 11:56 am.
The spokesman said that the firefighters are working carefully due to the presence of chemicals in Cosmic Pharma.
Jasim said that they have yet to receive any report of casualties.
He, however, said that the cause behind the fire would be ascertained after investigation.
