Fire brought under control in Mirpur slum after over an hour

A fire broke out at a slum in the Bhashantek area of Dhaka’s Mirpur on Sunday evening and was brought under control after more than an hour.

According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD), the blaze started at the Shyamol Polli Slum around 7:55pm, reports UNB.

Upon receiving information, seven firefighting units were working to douse the flames. The fire was brought under control at 9:10pm, said Talha Bin Jasim, station officer of the FSCD headquarters media cell.

The extent of the damage and the cause of the fire could not be confirmed immediately.

No casualties have been reported so far.
