The first batch of Bangladeshis is expected to be evacuated from Iran next week, officials of the foreign ministry said on Sunday.

In light of the war situation that has arisen in Iran, Bangladesh has initiated the necessary process of repatriation for all Bangladeshi nationals residing there who are willing to return, a spokesman of the ministry said.

The ministry requests that those interested in repatriation try to reach the Embassy of Bangladesh as soon as possible. In addition to this, arrangements are also being discussed for repatriation from other cities in Iran.

For the implementation of this repatriation, the ministry is in constant communication with the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.

In this regard, all interested Bangladeshi nationals are requested to submit their name, address, and other necessary information to the Bangladesh Embassy.

Their relatives in Bangladesh may also contact the designated helplines (including WhatsApp numbers) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy for any further assistance, he added.

Meanwhile, the foreign ministry in a statement on Sunday expressed its deep concern over the recent attacks targeting nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Such developments risk further destabilising an already fragile regional situation and heightening the threat to international peace and security.

Bangladesh reiterates its longstanding position in favour of the peaceful resolution of conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy. It urges all parties to exercise maximum restraint and refrain from any actions that could escalate tensions in the region.

Bangladesh also calls upon the United Nations and the international community to engage proactively in efforts to de-escalate the situation and promote peace and stability in the Middle East.

It firmly believes that constructive engagement, mutual respect, and adherence to international norms remain the only sustainable path to enduring peace.
