First phase of Biswa Ijtema to begin on January 31

The first phase of the 58th edition of Biswa Ijtema will begin on the bank of the Turag River at Tongi on January 31.

The phase will continue till February 2, said Home Adviser Lt. Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam after a meeting at the secretariat on Monday.

The adviser said the second phase of the congregation will begin on February 7 and continue till February 9.

According to UNB, followers of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi attended the meeting while representatives of Maulana Zubair Hasan were absent.

The Tabligh Jamaat has been hosting the Bishwa Ijtema at Tongi since 1967 and introduced the phase system in 2011 to better manage the growing number of participants.
