A five-day ‘Hilly Fruits Fair-2025’ will begin on Tuesday at the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Complex on Baily Road, adjacent to the Officers’ Club in Dhaka.

Organised by the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, the fair aims to showcase the diverse range of fruits and agricultural produce grown in the hill districts of Rangamati, Bandarban, and Khagrachhari.

The event will continue until Saturday, July 05.

Mr Supradip Chakma, Adviser to the Minister for CHT Affairs, is expected to inaugurate the fair at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, while Md Khaleque, Secretary of the Ministry, will preside over the inaugural session.

The fair will feature over 30 stalls, presenting an array of seasonal and exotic fruits native to the hilly regions. Among the highlights are mangoes, jackfruits, pineapples, bananas, persimmons, rambutans, dragon fruits, among others.

In addition to fruits, several stalls are expected to display traditional vegetables, including bamboo shoots, turmeric, and ginger—items widely used in ethnic cuisines and increasingly popular in urban markets.

Officials from the ministry said the fair is designed to promote the rich biodiversity and unique agro-ecological products of the CHT, and to create marketing opportunities for local growers and cooperatives, many of whom are from indigenous communities.

The fair will remain open to visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Entry is free for all.

Organisers hope the event will encourage city consumers to explore the nutritional value and commercial potential of hill-grown produce and foster greater integration between plainland and hill-based agricultural markets.
