Five people have been detained over their suspected involvement in the murder of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin in Gazipur. Police are currently verifying their identities against CCTV footage from the incident, according to Bason Police Station chief Shahin Khan.
“Five suspects have been detained for their suspected links to the incident. They are being interrogated,” he said.
However, authorities are not disclosing their names and identities to safeguard the investigation, he added.
The victim’s elder brother has filed a murder case over the incident, reports bdnews24.com.
Asaduzzaman, 38, was working as a staff reporter for the Dainik Protidiner Kagoj newspaper in Gazipur.
On Thursday, he was hacked to death by assailants after filming acts of extortion and violence.
Multiple police teams have been working on the case since the killing. The suspects were identified through CCTV footage and witness statements.
