Five people have died of dengue, while 466 more patients have been hospitalised with the Aedes mosquito-borne disease throughout Bangladesh in the past 24 hours.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said as many as 242 were admitted to hospital in Dhaka among the new dengue patients until Friday morning.
In addition, 92 were hospitalised in the Dhaka Division, 20 in the Mymensingh Division, 50 in the Chattogram Division, 43 in the Khulna Division, nine in the Rajshahi Division, one in Rangpur Division, three in the Sylhet Division, and six in the Barishal Division.
With the new counts, the number of hospitalised dengue patients has reached 69,922 this year. A total of 342 people died among them, bdnews24.com reports.
As many as 4,287 patients are currently undergoing treatment for dengue in hospitals across the country. They include 1,891 in the capital and 2,396 outside Dhaka.
The DGHS has been keeping records of dengue hospitalisations and deaths since 2000.
