A court in Dhaka on Sunday sent five members of banned Hizb ut-Tahrir to jail in a case lodged over engaging in a clash with law enforcers marking the outfit’s March for Khilafat program on March 7.
The five accused are Masrafi Rahman Mahi, 20, Irfan Shahriar, 20, Md Saiful Islam, 19, Md Anisur Rahman, 20 and Md Sohel Rana, 39, reports BSS.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Wahiduzzaman passed the order as it set March 13 for holding hearing on a police plea to place the accused on a 10-day remand each.
Another court on March 8 placed 17 Hizb ut-Tahrir men on a six-day remand each in the case.
Members of Hizb ut-Tahrir brought out a procession in Baitul Mukarram area in the capital after Jumma prayers. As the police tried to stop them, the Hizb ut-Tahrir men engaged in a clash with them. They started hurling brick bats at the law enforcers.
Police later filed the case with the Paltan Police Station in this connection.
