Flood situation in some parts of the country may worsen further as the water level in some rivers of different parts of Bangladesh is likely to rise in the next 24 hours, according to a bulletin of the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC).
However, the 24-hour bulletin issued on Thursday also said the flood situation at some low-lying areas of Sylhet and Sunamganj districts in the northeastern region may remain steady in the next 24 hour.
The Brahmaputra-Jamuna and the Ganges-Padma rivers are in rising trend which may continue in next 48 hours, as per bulletin.
According to the numerical weather forecast of meteorological agencies, there is chance of heavy rainfall at some places of the northern and north-eastern regions of the country along with adjoining states of Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Tripura of India in the next 24 hours.
The Dharla, Teesta and Dudhkumar rivers of the northern region of Bangladesh are in rising trend, which may continue rising in next 24 hours and may rise rapidly at times, it stated.
The major rivers of the north-eastern region of the country in the Upper Meghna basin are in rising trend which may continue in next 24 hours and may rise rapidly at times on some points of major rivers of the north-eastern region (Surma, Kushiyara, Bhugai-Kangsha, DhanuBaulai, Manu, Khowai).
