Floods claim 23 lives, affect 5.7 million people so far

At least 23 people were killed and 5.7 million people were affected by floods in 11 districts till Monday noon.

Md Kamrul Hasan, the secretary to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, gave the information at a press briefing at the secretariat on Monday.

Among the deceased, six killed in Cumilla, five each in Chattogram and Noakhali, three in Cox’s Bazar, one each in Feni, Khagrachhari, Brahmanbaria and Lakshmipur.

He said more than 1.2 million families were marooned by the flood in these districts.

The secretary said people in 74 upazilas and 550 unions or municipal areas experienced the disaster.
