Law Advisor Asif Nazrul has said doctors from overseas will be brought if necessary to treat the students who were burnt in the Bangladesh Air Force aircraft crash inside Milestone School and College in Dhaka's Diabari.
While visiting the victims receiving treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Monday afternoon, he said the injured students would be sent abroad if needed, according to bdnews24.com.
“The Burn Institute has informed that they have made all necessary preparations for medical treatment. If required, foreign doctors will be arranged.
“There will be no shortage in medical rehabilitation. But no matter what we do, nothing can compensate for the grief of what we have lost today,” he said.
“The chief advisor is constantly monitoring the situation. We will stand by those who are injured and in critical condition. We will take all required steps for their treatment."
“We will surely investigate why this tragic incident happened. All required actions will be taken,” the advisor added.
Health and family welfare ministry Special Assistant Sayedur Rahman reported that more than 70 injured students are currently undergoing treatment at multiple hospitals.
He noted that 16 dead bodies were brought to several hospitals. Of them, 11 were taken to Combined Military Hospital (CMH), two to Kurmitola General Hospital, and one to the Burn Institute. Another person died after being taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Pointing out that the condition of several injured individuals remains critical, he said: “A significant number have suffered airway damage. It will take some time to assess the extent of their risk.”
Requesting voluntary blood donations, the special assistant urged people to contact hospitals at 8am on Tuesday. He said, “The main threat to burn patients is infection, so please avoid entering the hospital premises.”
