A foreign national was detained at the city airport on Tuesday with 8.66 kgs of cocaine that has a street value of around Tk 1.30 billion, according to CIID.
Officials of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) detained the foreigner at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) with the consignment, which is the largest quantity of cocaine seized in the country. Mohammad Neazur Rahman, CIID director general, disclosed the information at a briefing.
The detainee, identified as Karen Petula Stuffle, a citizen of Guyana, arrived in Dhaka from Doha by a Qatar Airways flight, around 2:30 AM, according to a press release signed by Sonia Akter, deputy director of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate.
