Former minister Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury placed on five-day remand

A court in Dhaka has placed former housing and public works minister RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury on a five-day remand in a case filed at Paltan Police Station over the killing of a BNP activist.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehra Mahbub granted the remand on Friday when Paltan Police Station Sub-Inspector Nazmul Hasan, the investigation officer in the case, produced RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury before the court with a 10-day remand plea.

The former member of parliament from Brahmanbaria-3 constituency was arrested from the Nakhalpara area in Dhaka on Thursday night.
