Police have recovered the body of former sub-registrar Sahibur Rahman Swapon Pradhan (65) from a waterbody beside the Model Mosque in Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram district.
Swapon Pradhan, a resident of Satani Para in Nageshwari town, was also the owner of the Holy Care Clinic building adjacent to the waterbody.
Locals spotted the body on Saturday morning while coming to the mosque for prayers and informed the police.
Rezaul Karim Reza, officer-in-charge (OC) of Nageshwari Police Station, said, “The body was found under water hyacinths. Initially, it is suspected that he was killed and his body was hidden. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after investigation.”
The body has been sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, the OC added.
