Four people, including two 17-year olds, have reportedly confessed to the “rape” of a 14-year-old orphaned girl in Mymensingh’s Bhaluka Upazila, according to police.
The court of the district’s chief judicial magistrate recorded their statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure on Tuesday afternoon, said Additional superintendent of Police Abdullah Al Mamun.
All four of them are local residents, with two of them identified as Md Hossain, 21, Md Mehedi Hasan, 20.
The teenager hails from Narayanganj. She lost her mother in her childhood and her father died later, after a second marriage, according to the officer.
“The girl developed a romantic relationship with a man through social media six months ago. And as her stepmother tortured her regularly, she fled to Mymensingh where managed a job in late 2025,” Mamun said.
She came to the Bhaluka bus stop around 9pm on Mar 14 to meet her so-called boyfriend, who tricked her into a canal in the area, Mamun added.
“The four arrestees, who were lying in wait, raped her in turns for nearly an hour till around 11pm, finally leaving her alone,” the additional SP said.
She was later rescued and sent to a hospital, prompting police investigation into the incident. A case was filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
