Four arson attacks recorded in 36 hours: Fire Service

At least four arson attacks were recorded in 36 hours till 5:00 pm on Tuesday, the Fire Service said.

Three buses and three carriages of a train were set on fire by arsonists during this period in different places of Dhaka on Monday and early Tuesday, said Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters (media cell).

Three carriages of the Dhaka-bound "Mohonganj Express" train were burned in a fire set on fire by arsonists in the capital’s Tejgaon Railway Station.

Three buses were set on fire in different parts of the capital throughout Tuesday, during BNP and like-minded opposition parties’ dawn-to-dusk hartal.

The fire service had received reports of a total of 284 arson attacks by miscreants from October 28 until 5:00 pm on Tuesday.

The attacks caused damage to 280 vehicles and 15 establishments.

Among the vehicles, 175 were buses, 45 trucks, 23 covered vans, eight motorcycles, and 28 other vehicles.
