Police have arrested four persons for allegedly selling adulterated medicines and used medical items in the capital's Kamrangirchar area. The arrestees are: Md Main Uddin Gorami (40), Md Sabuj (45), Md Bachchu (26), and Md Chan Mia (70).
According to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), a team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Lalbag circle carried out a raid at Alinagar Bazar under Kamrangirchar Police Station on Thursday night and nabbed them. Some 10-12 accomplices of the arrestees fled the scene.
The arrestees were active members of a gang involved in selling adulterated medicines and used medical items for a long time. They purchased used infusion/transfusion sets from different hospitals and shops, repacked those items, and sold in the medicine markets.
Efforts are underway to arrest the absconding persons. A case was filed against the arrestees and the absconding persons.
On the other hand, police have arrested five professional muggers during a raid in Mohammadpur area. The arrestees are: Md Sharifil Islam Piyal (26), Md Mashiur Rahman Manik (28), Russel Sardar (22), Md Mamun Hossain Nayeem (28), and Munna Hossain (25).
A team of Mohammadpur Police Station carried out the raid on Thursday night, and nabbed the muggers. The arrestees confessed their involvement in snatching and mugging. Legal actions were taken against them.
Meanwhile, the DMP traffic division has filed 2,728 cases for violation of traffic rules during drives at different places of the capital on Thursday and Friday.
Besides, 125 vehicles were also dumped, while 51 other vehicles were taken to the dumping zone.
