A court in Mymensing on Wednesday sentenced four people to death for killing two siblings in Tarakanda upazila of the district in 2001.
The condemned convicted are: Liakat Ali, 55, Abul Kashem, 50, Enayer Hossain, 35 and Hossain Ali, 62, residents of Kodaldhar village, reports UNB.
The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each.
Besides, the court sentenced three other convicts to different terms of jail.
According to the prosecution, Abdur Rashid and Gias Uddin, sons of late Hafiz Uddin, were hacked to death in a clash over land on August 4, 2001.
Later, their another brother Abdul Khaleq filed a case accusing 22 people on August 5 with Tarakanda Police Station.
After examining all the records and witnesses, Mymensingh Special judge Md Ehsanul Haque handed down the verdict acquitting 15 people.
