A Dhaka court has rejected the bail and questioning applications of Indian national Jagdish Singh, accused in a fraud and forgery case.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Abdullah Mohammad Saleh issued the order on Monday, allowing one day of interrogation at the jail gate instead.

Plaintiff’s lawyer Tanvir Hasan Sohel said Sub-Inspector (SI) Ashraful Hasan had sought a four-day questioning period in the case filed at Ashulia Police Station.

He added that Jagadish is believed to be part of a fraud ring that includes four Bangladeshi nationals.

According to police, he has been married to a Bangladeshi woman for 10 to 11 years and was living with her and their three children at the Army Housing Society in Dakkhinkhan.

On Apr 18, Lam Meem Apparels' Director Nazrul Islam filed a case on behalf of the company.

It accuses Jagdish and others of forging documents and signatures “with the intention of breach of trust and fraud,” and attempting to embezzle $61,000 from the company
