The Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) has suspended the results of 193 candidates selected under the freedom fighter's children quota for the medical admission test.
Professor Rubina Yasmin, additional director general at the DGME, on Monday said that a decision will be taken regarding them after necessary verification.
The DGME published the results of the medical admission test for the academic year 2024-2025 on Sunday. Initially, 5,372 candidates were selected for admission to 37 government medical colleges across the country, of whom 193 were from the freedom fighter children quota.
Some have raised objections, arguing that candidates with lower marks have been selected for admission. On Sunday night, a group of students from Dhaka University and Dhaka Medical College staged a protest at the Central Shaheed Minar, claiming the results were "discriminatory" and demanding the cancellation of the results.
Professor Rubina Yasmin confirmed to bdnews24.com on Monday that the results of these candidates would remain suspended for now.
“We will verify their documents. Three committees have been formed for this purpose. On January 27, 28, and 29, they will come to the ministry with all their documents.
“We will check if anyone other than their children is on this list. If any ineligible candidates are found, they will have no chance of getting a seat,” she said.
Professor Rubina further explained, “This is a provisional result. The final decision will be made after verifying the documents.”
