Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus directed the home ministry on Wednesday to be fully prepared by December to conduct the 13th parliamentary election.
He gave these directives during a meeting on the preparations of law enforcement agencies for the upcoming parliamentary polls held at the State Guest House Jamuna in the city.
Later, the Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam briefed reporters at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital.
Shafiqul Alam said the parliamentary elections could be held before the start of Ramadan next February if all necessary preparations and state reforms are completed in time, according to a news by news agency.
CA also ordered the installation of CCTV at each voting center with proper monitoring facilities to ensure a peaceful voting environment, he said.
Shafiqul Alam mentioned that the Chief Adviser also instructed a list of vulnerable polling centers across the country to address any potential risks.
It was also revealed at the meeting that 800,000 personnel from law enforcement agencies will be on duty during the next elections.
The Chief Adviser emphasised the importance of proper training for election officials and members of security and law enforcement agencies who will be on election duties.
The government will also be reassigning district deputy commissioners, SPs, and UNOs as per the Chief Adviser's instructions.
Prof. Yunus gave specific directions to the election commission to maintain a separate list of voters aged between 18 and 33 years and establish separate polling booths during the election.
The press secretary also informed the media that the Chief Adviser urged law enforcement agencies to be vigilant in the upcoming months.
He mentioned that there are several ongoing preparations, including the recruitment of 17,000 new members in the law enforcement forces (Police, BGB, Coast Guard).
The Chief Adviser stressed that their recruitment and training should be completed within the specified period.
The Bangladesh Army will serve as the striking force in the 13th national election, Alam added.
