Members of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) seized 38 gold bars weighing 4.4 kg from a flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday.
Pradeep Kumar Sarkar, assistant director of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Circle, said a flight of Salam Air Airlines landed at the airport from Muscat, the capital of Oman, around 5:30am, reports UNB.
The CIID team seized the gold bars, wrapped in black scotch tape, from under a seat of the flight in an abandoned condition.
The market value of the seized gold bars is Tk 45 million.
The gold bars were deposited at the Customs House.
