The government is taking necessary steps to arrange an air ambulance for former prime minister and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia for her return travel to Dhaka from London.

“Preparations are on,” said foreign adviser Touhid Hossain when he was asked whether the government would arrange an air ambulance for Khaleda in response to BNP’s request.

Recently BNP wrote a letter to the government to provide their chairperson an air ambulance for travelling to Dhaka from London.

Khaleda, who was jailed during the previous regime of Sheikh Hasina, went to London for treatment, as she had been critically ill for a long time.

She was released after the fall of the Hasina regime on August 5 last year.

According to BNP sources, she may return home by the middle of May.

They claim that her two daughters-in-law – Tarique Rahman’s wife Zobaida Rahman and Arafat Rahman’s wife, Sharmila Tahman – may also return home from London.
