The government called on all factory owners of the country’s industrial sector including readymade garments (RMG) to pay wages for the month of July and festival allowances by July 25, sources said.
The request came at a meeting chaired by State Minister for Labour and Employment Monnujan Sufian with leaders of Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad (SKOP) held on Wednesday at Sromo Bhaban in the city.
The meeting was informed that Eid ul Azha is scheduled to be observed on August 01 and Eid holidays would start at the end of the month.
Labour leaders in the meeting demanded for full month wage payment for the month of July and festival allowance, meeting sources said.
They also urged the government for taking necessary measures to stop workers termination amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
